Historically denied to black communities during Apartheid, the Kruger National Park is now open to the general public. Today, however, high admission fees and transport costs limit the exposure of the wildlife to local communities living less than 25kms from the park. At Wild Shots Outreach, Mike Kendrick engages disadvantaged youth living nearby in wildlife education and conservation through photography courses. For Wild Shots Outreach Graduates Rifumo Mathebula, Wisoni Ngwenya and Queen Manyike, gaining proximity to the animals through the course developed their deep affinity for animals and influenced their career choices. A moving portrayal of the connectivity that photography and outreach inspires in cultivating the desire to conserve wildlife.
