Film practitioner and entrepreneur, acquired extensive knowledge of the African film industry through working experiences with Film Resource Unit and Gauteng Film Commission. Having studied Motion Picture and Management Advanced Program, produced a number of short films and music videos, Desmond Mthembu’s passion for film has also seen a number of influential audio-visual campaigns being pioneered by Government and film industry organizations. Played pivotal role in formulating and developing audio visual manual in partnership with Government Communications and Information Systems (GCIS) and other industry structures, positioned himself as an essential intellectual within the South African Film Industry. Over the past years formed part of high profile panellist at various local and international Film Festivals which meant his expertise were of a critical advantage for future industry strategy development. Film being a business he is of the view that Distribution models in light of new media and convergence is critical towards keeping industry self-sustainable. His strongest passion is contributing towards transformation of the industry.
