Jumoke Sanwo is a self-taught lens-based artist, working with the photographic medium, video art and virtual reality. She is founder and creative director of the Revolving Art Incubator, an experimental alternate art space in Lagos which was listed in 2019 as one of the Sharpest Artist-led spaces in Lagos by the New York Times. Her work engages Afro-aesthetic concerns with a focus on enlightenment, religion, technology and mobility, fostering new narratives on the decolonisation discourse. Her series Silence Des Femme was a finalist at The PRISMA human rights award by the EUIC in 2015. In 2012 she participated at the New Museum of New York’s “Ungovernables” Triennial and at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015 under the Invisible Borders Trans African Photography Project.
