Kirsty Blackford has over 25 years’ experience in the film and television industry both in South Africa and the UK.
Her career in media started when she joined the BBC in Programme Finance. She subsequently took up similar roles at ITV and GMTV. In 1995 she moved to South Africa and freelanced as a Production Accountant for Film Afrika Worldwide and in 1998 joined the founding Midi television team who successfully launched e.tv.
The following year, she took up the position of Executive Producer and was responsible for the production of numerous local programming including South Africa’s first daily youth drama Backstage. She then headed the Creative Services division taking up the role of General Manager where she successfully managed the multimedia creative team who were responsible for the eMedia groups creative and branding requirements. This included the launch of eNCA and OpenView HD.
During her leadership, the Creative Team won multiple prestigious World and Africa Promax Marketing Awards.
